In 2007, Dr. Todd Malan of Scottsdale, AZ was one of only two doctors in the U.S. to begin using advanced techniques in fat grafting developed by doctors in Japan and Germany.
His experience as a pioneer utilizing fat transfer and stem cell enriched fat grafting in the breast lead to great successes in fat transfer to the face, hands, and buttocks.
“It is an exciting time to be a facial cosmetic surgeon. We now have the ability to correct years of aging in a simple, safe, and effective 1 hour procedure that utilizes a patients own fat to replace what has been lost by years of aging.” – Dr Todd K. Malan
In 2009, Dr. Malan was the first doctor in the U.S. to perform a stem cell enriched fat graft. Dr. Malan’s pioneering efforts to promote fat transfer to the face as a better alternative to face-lift was not at first widely accepted:
“Many of my colleagues both in the Valley and around the U.S. thought that what I was doing would not prove to be effective. Thankfully we succeeded in our efforts to radically improve breast and facial cosmetic surgeon and those same doctors who doubted are now performing the procedures themselves.
The addition of concentrated stem cells has significantly improved our results with fat grafting to the breast, buttocks, hands, and face. In the face these changes are the most spectacular as injected stem cells seem to remodel the skin itself making it thicker and more supple.” – Dr Todd K. Malan
